As the manager of the Recommendation Platform team, you will partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Data Scientists and lead a team of talented engineers to invent, scale, and deliver new types of recommendations; develop a recommendation engine used by Indeed’s employer experience teams to build and test their own recommendations; and ensure that we deliver effective and consistent recommendations across all of Indeed’s experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience as a software developer, ideally building large-scale systems.
  • 3 years of software engineering team management experience.
  • 1+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • Background in distributed systems, microservice architecture, and agile development experience.
  • MUST HAVE recent hands-on technical expertise.
  • Experience building and growing teams.
  • Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers.
  • The desire to solve tough problems with quality software at scale.
  • Experience building high-performance software services.
  • Expertise in programming languages: Javascript/Typescript on Node.js; Java.
  • Experience in GraphQL, REST, and RPC technologies.
  • Experience leveraging AWS technologies for data processing and serving is a plus.
  • Experience with React.js is a plus.
  • Experience analyzing big datasets for insights and recommendations is a strong plus.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.

Salary Range Transparency

Toronto 142,000 - 206,000 CAD per year
